Default Distributor Problems

I have been working on my 89 S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L this past weekend trying to get it back running. So now I have figured out that inside my distributor, right underneath the rotor has broken. From what I can tell it is the breaker plate but not sure. Its the part that goes over the pickup coil to protect it, and that is what I need to replace since it has exploded out the housing and cracked the plate. Does anyone know what this part (or parts) is and how to replace it?

I know the ignition module is where you describe. Does it have electrical connections on it?

Thumbs down

Not on the broken piece but right under it from the pickup coil there's connections. I also think it's the breaker plate that cracked into pieces and it also blew out the housing a little on one of the sides. Is there a way to take these off without having to remove the entire distributor? I will upload pics when I get a chance

I think you can pretty much take the wjole upper part if the dist apart without pulling it. I would pull the Ignition Module and have it tested at an auto parts store. They have a special tester. Have them run the test several times.
