Does anything look tampered with???
#1
I bought this blazer with 125k [2001]...... I have replaced shocks and put new tires on it.......and greased the track in the drivers seat....i don't think it had ever been moved......and changed oil and filter and gave it a grease job...
I did not get any maintenance records with it......
I am not familiar enough with this engine to know if anything has been tampered with or cobbled up.........as far as i can see, it all looks really good.........If it has had work done, it's been done by a good mechanic [technician, as they are now called;-)] It runs great and after all my years i have finally learned that .........if it ain't broke don't fix........
my question is..... can anyone see anything suspicious that i may need to take care of???.......

In the first pic, it looks like the white tab holding the fuel injector harness is out of place/ maybe broken.
In the fourth pic, the brackets are not assembled correctly OR you are missing a nut on that stud. I would have to go look to be sure...
In the fifth pic, I would venture to guess your ABS unit has been replaced, and your brake fluid looks fairly dark
So, I think someone replaced the intake gaskets and replaced the ABS. Looks good to me, nice and clean!
Edit : the Captain is right ( As usual
). Just missing the nut.

I wandered about the bracket just setting on the bolt.......but just figured it was there only to hold it in line.........I'll find a nut....
I also wandered about the white tab........i think it may be broken.......i'll check to see if they used a new one......
that abs unit looks like it may have come out of a junk yard......???...this makes me wander about that a little bit???........I don't think a chevy dealership would have put a used part on..........
good news about the intake gaskets......I really didn't want to do that yet..
does the broken keeper tab make you think that the intake has been off??......you are probably right....
I also noticed that the ball joints where bolted [no rivets]........were the ball joints all rivets in 2001??.......if so, the ball joints have also been changed.......
it looks like someone has put a few bucks in before i got it....
you guys know your blazers....... thanks a lot ....i'm going to keep this little guy......they kind of grow on ya:-)

Doc has way better eyes than I have! I never noticed the tab, but he's right, looks like it's broken, and probably happened during an intake gasket job. Lets hope they used the Felpro, MS98002T. You can get a lock tab at a boneyard
All 4 ball joints were riveted from the factory.

I wouldn't worry about the used ABS unit. I've got two Blazers just to have some used parts on hand. There are some things to avoid used though!
Also, there are some great mechanics out there not found at a Chevy dealership. And, there are some no so great ones that can be...

I'm happy to know about the rivets,,,,,,,I'm getting too old for that kind of work.....
I've never trusted anyone to work on my cars....I stayed with chevys all my life because I'm familiar with them, more than any other......
I need to make sure about the lock tab.....I'll check to see if a new one was used.....
I plan on making a trip to my local boneyard to see what they have........i haven't done that in years.........I really need to get a couple of power seats.......
thanks again...
