EGR Valve
Hey guys--help me out again with this--what's the EGR stand for, what does it do, and how can I get to it to clean and/or replace it. Reading some of these posts, I believe I may have an issue with it, and I'd like to check it 1st before I do anything else. Thanks in advance!

RE: EGR Valve
This has been posted quite a few times, but here ya go...
EGR == Exhaust Gas Recirculator.
The EGR system is an emissions control device which meters exhaust gases back into the intake to displace oxygen in the intake charge. This serves to reduce cylinder temperatures, reducing the formation of NOx. As the engine was designed to run with a functioning EGR system, if removed, potentially harmful detonation may occur and your performance would most certainly suffer.
To clean it, simply unbolt it. It is located in the front of the motor between the throttle body and the water pump and is literally pointed straight at you when you pop the hood. It is about the size of a soda can and will have an electrical connection on top and be held on by two 10mm bolts. Have a new gasket ready before you remove it. You should be able to pick up a gasket that has an integrated screen that should help cut down on the potential for clogging. You need to make sure that there is nothing keeping the valve itself from sealing.
