Default EGR Valve question.

Hello, I am going to have my egr valve replaced with a new one, and I just wanted to know if the part of the engine where the egr bolts on to has to be cleaned, or can it just be bolted on with the new gasket?

Also, the carb cleaner that I might buy if needed says it is safe for Oxygen sensors and catalytic converters. If I do need to clean the part of the engine where the egr goes, will this be ok?

I like to clean out the supply tube so that chunks do not plug up the new valve. Also, get the gasket with the integrated screen.
