Default Engine gens

Hi all thanks for addI have 1996 blazer s10 ,I know this has been asked before but I appreciate the help

I've been searching online what motor's I can drop in without reinventing the wheel!
My buddy has spare 99 motor and I would like to use it ,I know it's well maintained and low miles mine is getting tired!
Is it straight drop in?

sorry for rhe thread Im pretty sure I have the engine years figured out

You can go from 1996 up to (including) 2000 before the knock sensor mounting hole in the block changed. You may or may not need to use your original exhaust and intake manifolds on the later motor - match them up carefully. Change oil pan and oil pickup tube too if going between 2WD and 4WD.

thanks for that,the motor is from 4wd 1999,8 digit W on Vin same as mine
