Default Engine is making a whining noise when the car is off. 2000 Chevy Blazer

When I turned off the ignition of my 2000 chevy blazer there is a whining noise coming from the front of the engine. I went inside and about an hour later the noise was still there. I’m not sure what the reason is, but i’ve read online something about a fuel pump, not sure if that has to do with it.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Can you pinpoint from where the sound is originating?

Perhaps it is cooling system leak and what you are hearing is the leak?

The fuel comes up from the back of the engine onto the top of it. So therefore what you are hearing is unlikely fuel related.

Can you describe the sound? Does it change over time? Does it die off eventually? Is it present only when the coolant is hot?

the sound is consistent, doesn’t stop and keeps the same pitch. it doesn’t die down

That is weird. I don't know if I can help. The best advice would be to try to locate it. Auto parts stores sell stethoscopes for locating engine sounds. That is what I would try.

Perhaps someone else has an idea.

As for posting your video, there must be some way you can reduce its file size. Then perhaps others on the forum might be able to identify it.

The only electrical motor up in that area is the air injection pump. See if you can find the fuse for it and pull it. If the noise stops then you have found the source. As for the cause? I haven't a clue.

What AJBert said.

To follow up on Christines suggestion make a listening devive out of a long screwdriver or the tire iron. Cup the end with your hand and hold that up against your ear. Then start touching all the stuff in that area until it gets louder. Engine off of course.
