Default Engine Removal 2002 V6 4.3lt 4x4

Easy trick to get to those Top Bell Housing Bolts, Remove the Engine Mounts and Lower the Engine so that the Sump is resting on the Front Diff, this Will Give You Some Extra Room to Help get to those Bolts Out. To Remove the Engine, Unbolt the Both Front & Rear Uni Joints, Remove the Starter Motor & The Plate the Starter Motor Fits In too, (2 x Small Bolts and the Plate will Come Off) Slide the Gearbox/Transfer Case back as Far as it will Let You, This Will Only Give You about 2 Inches But that's Better Than Nothing and Is Just Enough. This Will Give You Enough Room to Access the Converter Bolts, Undo the Converter Bolts from the Flex Plate. This will Eliminate the Problem of the Engine and Sump Getting Stuck on the Front Diff & Free the Engine From The Gearbox. This Will Allow the Engine to be lifted Straight Up and then Forward Missing the Firewall and Clearing the Front Diff. You Will Need 2 x Floor Jack's to Do the Above Exercise, 1 x Under the Front of the Gearbox and 1 x Under the Centre of the Transfer Case. This Does Work and is Possibly Easier than Trying to Undo the Front Diff/Suspension. NB: You Will Also Have to Undo the Transmission Cooler Lines from the Heat Ex-changer to allow the Gearbox to Go Back.
This Vehicle is a 2002 Right Hand Drive 4x4 Blazer, Should Still be the Same as Left Hand Drive. Good Luck, Have Patience, You Will Need Them.

My engine comes out tomorrow. I have no idea how the (Indy) shop will do it, but. They have a lift, so.. probably some variation of:

- Remove hood
- Unbolt engine from trans
- Remove whatever is in the way, preventing up direction
- Remove engine
- Drop in new one

OR ?

- Get truck on the lift
- Unbolt engine from whatever is holding it in
- Raise up truck on lift
- Lower truck
- Bolt in new engine
- Raise truck, finish job.

From what I have read, it probably gets dropped in from the top.

Would love to save old engine for an autopsy, but.. I'll take a running engine, lol.

Question as to what OP said.. he mentioned Right Hand Drive, does that mean the power steering shaft (that is right In the way of two spark plugs, thanks) is on the other side too?

And does that procedure apply to ALL 2nd Gens, 95-05?

New spark plugs are going in when the engine is out....

if they're not taking the old one as core chances are you can get the old motor to rebuild.

Also for what the OP said, yeah on RHD vehicles the entire steering system is on the opposite side.

I one pulled and then replaced 318 in a 71 Dart. Doing that on the Blazer looks a lot more complicated!
