Secondary air injection pump.

Thank you!! I had no idea what it might be to try to find any information on it. Turns out, that when you Google thing-a-ma-bob or do-ma-hickey. Then t's just not very useful. Lol

Well that is slightly troublesome. Seems like a whole lot of work to switch the entire system over to the donor engine just to not have a CIL. Might be easier to switch the CPU from donor vehicle and not have that system at all.

Should plug right in right?

I'm not sure how plug-and-play it will be. It might mess with your anti-theft system, and it might have incorrect info in the "new" computer, like VIN, mileage, etc. Not really my area of expertise. It would probably be better to send the ECM out to one of the places that does programming and have that system "tuned" out.Or, if you know somebody who has HP Tuners (or equivalent), they should be able to do it for you.

I was wondering that.
Non of this is my area of expertise but especially electronic. I just know how to turn a wrench and sometimes can figure out how to put it back together. I'm hoping this is one of those times. Lol

Don't do that. You will be sorry. Switching computers to correct for different hardware will cause you so much unknown grief...….

Just switch the intake and exhaust manifolds (if different) from your old engine over to the new engine - and use all the original pieces, PCM, and wiring. You want to have those new intake gaskets on it anyways!

I don't remember if you ever told us the year of your Blazer, and what year your new engine is...……. There is a knock sensor design difference with breakpoint after year 2000 that must be dealt with. The actual hole in the block is different size.

Should be no problem with knock sensor with that swap.
If it was a 98 into a 2001, then you would have a problem.

I am assuming that you still have to put the engine in your Blazer. I just want to say that I did mine without lifting the body. I removed all the engine mounts to lower the engine down to get to bolts. I also think it is a good idea to test your bolts in the back of the engine before installation, you want them to turn real easy because there is a certain amount of finger work to screw them in.

Thanks for the tip.
I am installing now. Took a couple of days of vacation to hopefully get this buttoned up.

I did end up lifting the body. Probably didnt have to but it seems to be nicer and only took 20 mins. But will add some time at the end. One bolt broke on two and one I couldn't get to break free so cut the head off. Luckily I have spares from the donor vehicle. I'll just have to get the rest out. Which I'm expecting to take a couple of hours. Translation: that = days. lol

Update on the whole drilling holes to soak with PB blaster to lift the body. Also not nessecary. Sometime between 98 & 2000 they added holes in the side of the mounts just big enough to stick a straw in and could probably soak it that way. Wish of seen them before I drilled holes but that is the least of my problems now. Lol

Finaly got the donor buttoned up with new seals and gaskets, spark plugs and hopefully ready to run. It ran when I pulled it but had mis fire #1cyl. I thought it was spark plug wire but I was mistakenly to confident so didnt test. After I pulled the engine I noticed one of the pins on what people call "The main plug" but is actually the fuel injectors plug. And was the pin for #1 cyl. So I swapped that from original engine plus new plugs and wires.

Super glad for that tip because it turns out the bolts are actually different size from 98 to 2000. The bolts for the 2000 were to big for this block.

I'm struggling to get it aligned still. Over 6 hours yesterday and cant get one bolt started. After I gave up and walked away, I thought about it and I'm starting to wonder if the alignment pins are bigger too. They dont seem to beable to go in. Tomorrow pulling it back out and checking the pins.
