Default Engine swap Blazer/Jimmy

Hello, new to the site. I can't really find a good site for Jimmy support, so I am trying here since they are basically the same truck with the same drivetrain from what I understand. My mother in law has a 2000 Jimmy that my step son wrecked. She wants another Jimmy. The current Jimmy only has 70k on it and was in excellent shape all around, dealership maintained, and originally from Texas. It is now in Wisconsin. The drivetrain is fine, the front drivers side is wrecked bad, even tweaking the windshield frame. I can either try and make the current truck driveable, or find another Jimmy with a blown motor or tranny and swap out everything. My question is, can the same engine and tranny in the current Jimmy go into a 4 door, 4wd Jimmy, coming from a 2 door, 2wd or any of the other variations without major modifications? To the best of my knowledge they all used the same engine and transmission. Also, which years can be looked at? For that matter, can it go into a Blazer? I have tried for years to tell her a Blazer and Jimmy were basically the same, she wouldn't hear a word of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and would hopefully get me some points with my mother in law.
Thanks for any input.
Aaron

I believe that the only difference between the 2- and 4-door models is a couple inches on the frame, the 4-door being longer. As long as the powertrain is the same between the trucks you're swapping everything should work OK.

And yes, the Blazer, Jimmy and Bravada were exactly the same truck. The later Blazer, Jimmy and Bravada were the same, as well as the GMT360 TrailBlazer, Envoy and Bravada. My wife has a '93 Jimmy and I have a '94 Blazer. They're almost identical. They both have the 4.3l Vortec, 4L60E transmission, electronically-shifted transfer case, and a bunch of other stuff. The only significant difference is that the fan control resistor is the old style on the Jimmy and the new style on the Blazer.

Well.. you have to look at the vehicles from her point of view. Mechanically and replacement parts-wise they are the same, for sure.
She's probably looking at it from the POV of the drivers's seat. Maybe she drove a base Blazer and her Jimmy is loaded.

Hell I have that problem all the time.. with people on here saying there's no diff between Blazer and Bravada.

Well bullhockey! In all the ways that count.. meaning my wife's opinion... there's a world of difference.

Now what that really means is you have to find one that either has all the creature comforts your mom in law wants, or transfer all of them to the new truck.

I am under the assumption that Bravadas were AWD, am I wrong?

And of course there is a difference between blazers/jimmys/bravadas when it comes to options, but if you find a blazer / jimmy with the same options, it will be really hard to tell the difference.

When I wrecked my 94 blazer, it was fully loaded minus leather seats and keyless entry, So I made sure when I was looking for a "new" one, I found a fully loaded. Ended up finding my 93 jimmy, which is fully loaded, the only difference is the leather seats, and keyless entry.

Dont know... never rode in a Chevy with real leather, full 6-way and heated seats. Pretty sure my brothers' Yukons have real leather

I'm gonna say again.. there's chevy leather and there's olds/buick leather. My wife went from one to the other. No compare.
You make my point exactly
You find out exactly what it is impresses/reassures your M-i-L and make sure it's in the new one. Seats are an easy swap. Moonroof's something else.

Oh yeah. difference in quality of leather, that is very true, the seats in the jimmy are damn slippery!
I might make that a project this summer to swap the seats out with something of better quality, or get these seats to an upholstery shop

But like has been said, drive train should swap over for the most part, things will vary from year to year however. but that i'm sure is already known.

That is interesting, I have never been in a bravada honestly. but there was no difference between my previous '94 blazer Tahoe LT and now my current '93 Jimmy SLT.
