Default 99 nv236 headaches

Hey, I am new around here, and have tried to search my problem with not much luck. I have a 99 with the NV236 4 button with auto switch. I am trying to keep from paying the dealer a $125 to read my tccm codes. When I would start it, the selector switch would light and the tccm would start clicking and it would show 2wd, and work normally shifting thru the ranges. A couple weeks ago, the switch would flash and no noise from the tccm at all, and the "4wd service" light lights up. It was a come and go problem for two weeks, worked when cold, not when hot in the car, and now its a constant problem, the tccm clicks not all. Is that normal when there is an issue. I checked connections under the car and found nothing loose, and into the tccm, everything looked fine. Took the cover off the tccm and no corrosion at all. The selector switch has been replaced due to a fit of GM induced rage. Should I just bite the bullet and let the dealer scan and tell me how many thousand's of dollars he needs to fix it this time, or could it just be the tccm puked. Any help would be appreciated.
