Hello y'all!

I suppose I should start with a little back story.

I was driving my 2000 Chevy blazer one day and it over heated, blew the thermostat and lost all power. The man I was engaged to at the time (also a mechanic) said I warped the head and it needed a motor swap. So it sat.

Recently, said man left me (for another woman) and my friends husband stepped in and helped me out.

Turns out there was a hole in the radiator hose (from the fan) and my cat was clogged. Cool. No new motor needed- even though I had one sitting around.

I just got it back tonight though and my check light keeps blinking. No knocking, no pinging. Everything runs as it should. The only problem is it's running open exhaust- as he cut the cat and did a straight 3" pipe.

Im going to take it to have it scanned soon, but am wondering if it's flashing just because it's running open exhaust? It doesn't even attempt to get hot. It's actually running significantly cooler than it was before. Thankfully it's not my daily driver and loud doesn't really scare me.

 

Never heard of an OBDII vehicle with a flashing check engine light.

Keep in mind though, loud may not scare you but it will attract local LEO's...lol

 

Misfire detection will flash the SES light.
