Default Fuel Leak after fill up

After filling up (without topping off), my 96 blazer leaks some gas. After it leaks for a little while, it doesn't leak anymore.

I'm also getting a PO440 code, not sure if this is related or not.

I changed the fuel pump about 2 years ago, so I'm thinking (hoping) it's something else.

Any ideas?

Thx,
Fredgie

Leaks how much - a few drops, a cup full? Have you tried to see where the leak is coming from? It may be somewhere along the filler neck.

You did not happen to crack the valve at the front of the fuel tank when you replaced the pump did you?

Have a look around the fuel tank with a mirror to see if you can locate the leak.

The P0440 code is likely caused by your leak.

thanks for the quick responses, fellas.

if i let the pump fill up the tank until it automatically stops pumping, then a ton of gas spills out from somewhere by the tank.
