Default Fuel line question
1998 gmc jimmy 2 wheel drive 4.3 vortec my stereo has vibrated the the metal fuel return line against the fire wall an rubbed a hole in it.
Oreillys has the line for 100 bucks but on the end at the engine connect side it doesn't screw on it's a quick connect. I'm no mechanic by any means but I think mine screws on. Anyone know for sure ?? An if it does screw on where do I find one ??

Napa says it doesn't have much pressure on the return line an to use a repair kit they sell that has the fitting I need They say just cut out the bad spot at use the new line with a compression fitting.
Will that work ?

Yes. The return line is 5/16", pump max output is 108 psi, compression fittings can hold that.

Ok one question. Guy at oreillys says I can use rubber line because it's just the return line. I thinking if I can use rubber why didn't gmc use rubber when they built it

Anytime. Rubber does not last as long. If it's raining I'd use rubber for a qiuck fix. Make sure it fuel injection rated rubber and clamps.

kind of a stupid question but how did your stereo vibrate the the return line and have it wear on the firewall

I have 16 12" subs running on 4 7500 watt mono blocks the vibration on the fire wall ate a hole through the return line. Won't happen again though It's wrapped with rubber now lol

One day you'll be truly sorry that you didn't protect your ears if you are not doing so now.

Not from loud boom boxes or music, my hearing is horrible. Also, even worse, I have Tinnitus which is caused by
damage to the hair like things in the middle ear. My T never stops... ringing 24/7 for the last 4 or 5 years. And, I've
had T since 1997. It wasn't very bad the first three or four years.

So, protect your ears!

Yeah, the return hose has virtually zero pressure on it. It just dumps back into the tank at the fuel pump........ installed one (fuel pump) in my 95 Blazer today!
