Fuel Pressure Dropping Fast '01 ZR2
Motor cranks, but won't fire up.
Fuel pressure only goes up to about 40 or 45 with the key turned to "on". As soon as the pump turns off, the pressure drops to zero.
Replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Was able to get it started and on the road for a couple of days. Then it wouldn't start again
Yesterday I noticed that when the pump turns off,you can hear a spraying noise coming from inside the tank. That noise stops just about the time the needle on the gauge hits zero.
Is it time to replace a fuel pump, or did I miss something?

It sounds like your pulsator to me!
I had the exact same problem and replaced the fuel pump worked fine for a couple of days then the same problem occured, I do have a older truck and I believe the newer model blazers have a one piece sending unit but mine isnt so it was the pulsator causing the problem. Replace the fuel pump.

There is mostlikely a problem with the pump that is allowing it to leak down. If you hear a spraying noise from inside the tank, then the pump will require replacement.

Sounds like a bad pump to me, but I don't know about that 'spraying' sound.

Actually, dropping the tank, and changing the pump, is not that bad. Just be careful of the fuel lines, and electical connections. While it is out, closely inspect where the wires pass thru the sending unit. I changed my pump, only to discover that the sending unit had frayed wires, and was not passing voltage.....
