Default Fuel pump?

Hello, I have a 1999 Chevy blazer with 81,000 miles on it. Right now the fuel pump constantly runs unless the car is off. Also, when i push the accelerator the car bogs down and makes like a puffing/popping sound, and the exhaust gets really rough and sounds horrable. My brother is telling me i need a new fuel pump, but I've already gotten one a few months ago and it shouldn't be bad already??? I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything else that could be wrong, or what i should do.I also get about 100 miles per tank if I'm lucky, which is very unbearable now with thesegas prices, any ideas?Thank you.

Default RE: Fuel pump?

First do a fuel pressure test, testing both the supply pressure and the leak down over time. That should point you in the right direction for the components that require replacements. After you have done the pressure testing, report back and let us know the results. We can recommend more at that time.
