Are you stating that in 1st gear in the transmission with the transfer case in low, everything is fine, but once you hit 2nd gear in the transmission with the transfer case in low, you get a noise?
Is the noise present when in 4HI in the transfer case?
Manual or automatic transmission?

Hey Smartlkk,(ur the pimp
4hi is good, yes went from 1st to 2nd, and only heard it when it was in second gear, it's a 700r4........TV Cable stop was about a 1/4" too long when I tried it's 4wd and tranny was shifting way too late. Wouldn't even go into OD( hope the guy didn't rev up the motor too much and take some life off the tranny)..tv cable is good now.

Chain noise should be there in 4HI as well. The transfer case might not be engaging properly into 4LO...
Here is the process for adjusting the NP208:
Here is the process for adjusting the NP208:
Loosen the adjustment bolt so the rod will slide freely. Look right under the pivot bolt on the shifter. There will be a small hole to stick a rod or screwdriver in to hold it in place for the adjustment. With it lined up, it will be in the 4H position. Then move the case shift lever on the transfer case itself so that it is pointing vertical. There are detents, so it should pop into place and stay there. Then tighten the adjustment bolt to 90 in lbs and test.

ok that didn't work....but learned that 4LO was probably working fine untill i tried it cuz first gear in 4LO now makes that sound. I think i broke something when it shifted into 2nd with a badly adjusted TV cable and though it only did it in 2nd gear. 4HI works great...

Could you be more descriptive with your assessment of the problem? Do not leave any details out...
