Default Hard shift from 1st to 2nd...questions

My 99 Blazer has 140,000 miles on the odometer. I just put a reman engine in this about 4 months ago and now I think I have tranny issues.

A couple of things. I've noticined a slight shudder at take off over the last few weeks. Feels like it's coming out of the rear u-joint but they have been checked and all u-joints are in good shape with no slop. It feels a bit like a torque converter but it only lasts for a second or two then smooths out.

In the last day or so I am getting a hard 1st to 2nd shift, almsot to the point of squaking the tires at shift change. This is from a "normal" take of from a light or stop sign.

Fluid is at the hot full level but is not as pink as I know it should be, has a bit of burnt smell too.

I've not done a fluid/filter change and from the history of this vehicle I assume it's probably never been done.

Looking for advice.
Thanks!

Yea,at this point..I see no risk at doing a fluid change. Its past due, already showing problems so it could help or make it worse. So its gonna fail sooner or later anyways,or the fluid could help it.

Id change it and hope for the best. Add some lucas trans treatment to it when u change it.
