Default Transmission shifts hard 1st to 2nd

Hello, I have a 95 blazer 4x4 195,000 miles that started shifting rough a month or so ago. it seems to shift hard from 1-2nd and i believe 4-5 gear. I checked the fluid immediately when i first noticed the problem and it was not registered on the dipstick (so i filled) but there is no leak(nothing under car or on driveway) where could it have gone and how expensive do you think this might be to repair? I love my blazer, but I am not a mechanic. any suggestions on where i should start? Thanks, Greg

It is possible that your Transfer Case input seal is bad, if the seal is bad your T case will be overfull. you can check your T case from the fill plug. I recently had my T case seal replaced and if I remember correctly it was between 350-400 bucks. As far as the hard 1-2 shifts is you SES light on? hard 1-2 shifts usually means that it is throwing a P1870 code, excessive torque converter slippage and if thats the case the transmission will go to maximum line pressure to compensate for the TCC slippage, when in maximum pressure you will get hard 1-2 shifts

hello, I was thinking that the transfer case seal could be the culprit(after a friend had suggested this yesterday) however i am not getting a SES light but i guess it wouldnt hurt to have it checked to see if there was a code present. I just hope the damage hasnt already been done. Thanks, Greg

If there is no codes then you may have caused some damage if the fluid was that low, how long was it driven with it that low?? There is many additives that can smooth the shifting that you can try, I personally like a additive called Lucas Trans fix, it will smooth the shifts, but you need to get the transfer case input seal fixed as soon as you can to prevent this from happening again.
