Im stuck in the middle of replacing my thermostat...i cant get it out....just starting to wonder if im even in the right spot where the thermostat is....someone please help?!?!?!

 

its a diamond shaped base, with a tube coming straight out the top of the engine. kinda on the side. As for getting it out, i'd say just pry it out, but be careful not to score/deform the edges of the thermostat housing.
