Hesitation after shifting into reverse normal?
#1
I have a newly acquired 2005 2-door 4x4 automatic that is in near-perfect condition both visually and mechanically. However, I have been noticing something that I'm not used to from other vehicles I've had/driven, but I do have a feeling this might be normal.
When I shift my truck into reverse inside my truck, it takes 1-2 seconds to actually get into reverse. This means I can't actually accelerate backward for those 1-2 seconds because it will just rev up like it's in neutral. It happened really bad yesterday at work when I was backing into a parking space that is on a slight hill. It revved up high and then grinded and vibrated its way into reverse. And I know I'm not putting the truck into reverse and slamming the gas as soon as I can. I'm doing it like anyone would and not even my 1984 K10 felt like this. (I also had a friend make a bunch of 3-point turns and she eventually felt it.)
I still feel like I might just need to get used to this though because I really don't think there's anything wrong with the transmission. It works fine as long as I wait the extra couple of seconds and shifts fine in drive. The transmission fluid looks fine as does everything else.
Anyone else notice this when originally coming from another vehicle to your Blazer?

I did when I got my '02 a few years ago. I had it back flushed, refilled, new filter etc etc. it sort of helped & Lucas Tranmission goop helped a bit. It was mostly when it was cold - 1st thing in the morning & especially in the winter. Turns out there were seals that were blown in my case & I was getting it rebuilt in awhile anyway.
The forward gears all worked just fine, although 1st - 2nd hung a bit.

There is a delay for reverse on mine as well, followed by a little clunk. As far as I know it's pretty much normal, I've never had any trouble anyway.. I couldn't tell a difference with a fluid flush either.
