Default How do you know if your main bearings will spin or fail?

hello all, i wanted to ask, if your oil pressure gauge is steady at idle around 40 psi and then all of a sudden it rapidly goes down to 30 psi and rapidly goes back to 40 psi with no RPM change, does it mean your main bearings are in trouble?
by the way i have a 95 S10 pick up with a 4.3 vortec v-6 4x4

Not necessarily. There could be several reasons for it. I would first try the Auto-Rx treatment.

I agree, that does not really cry out that there is a serious problem. It could be a problem with the wiring grounding out that is causing it to drop like that. The only surefire way to put your mind at ease is with an oil filled mechanical gauge hooked up to the engine oil pressure test port (where the gauge sending unit is).
