Default Main Bearings

Hello all, I just bought a 1994 Chevy Blazer 4 door, automatic with the 4.3 liter (vortex) for $400.00 and this is my first chevy vehicle. But the problem is I think the main bearing is bad in it. So my question is- Do I have to take the front axle out to replace them through the oil pan? Thank you for your time

Are you talking about a crank bearing in the engine when you say main? If so you have to pull the motor and do a tear down and rebuild.

*Moving to 1st Gen Tech*

If you have to replace a main bearing, you have to pull the motor. This cannot be done from under the truck.

It would be easier and less frustrating to do it with the engine totally removed. Cranks are big and would require a lot of room. I don't know if it's even possible without removal of an insane amount of components.
