How to get a Blazer out of "park"
My grandfather had a 1992 Chevy Blazer 2WD with the V8 Vortec engine. His house was ransacked and the thief stole every key in the house, including the Chevy Blazer keys.
We're selling the house and need to move the Blazer ASAP. What options do we have for getting the transmission out of park without a key, so it can be loaded onto a tow truck? The Blazer has been sitting for years and is not operational, with a very dead battery, if that makes a difference.

This is general advice as I'm not familiar with the full-size Blazers.
If the gear-shift linkage could be disconnected from the transmission, then the transmission could be shifted using the linkage or even at the transmission itself effectively bypassing the ignition switch lock.
Good Luck

Would the same process apply?
Yes, I believe so. I've never tried though. Try to find a schematic or diagram for the shift arm on the transmission for that vintage S10 Blazer to guide you.
If it's not too late to be helpful, when you pry up the rubber shroud at the base of the shifter, there's a white plastic tab the will take it out of Park. At least - that worked on my 97 4x4.
