Default Inconsistent RPM shifting 1-2 4L60E

97 LS blazer 4dr, vin W..

Got it few weeks ago, everything is pretty good, I've replaced a ton since it's 170k miles. Other than a slight shake at idle that affects the side mirrors.. I've been wondering about the transmission.

It seems to happen when cold which makes me wonder about people talking about the 'it will rev higher to warm the engine/trans lube purposely', set by the pcm iirc..

But is this a sign of transmission problems or is it intentional?

I don't seem to have any other shifting issues that I've noticed. Cycling through the gears manually seems to react normal, no delays. (which makes me wonder about the 'warming up' cycle with these?)

Any other info or things to observe would be helpful. Since I'm new to this transmission I've no idea what's what.

Thanks!

Fluid it thicker when cold so some change could be noticeable. Could be the torque converter.

This is my first "truck" in all honesty. I've driven a few old beaters a few times in my life, but in my immediate past I'm coming from a Miata (finely tuned! ) and a Cadillac Deville.. So in reflection perhaps I'm expecting too much?

I really wonder if it sat for a year or more at the dealership and I'm just seeing the after-effects of that. When I got it I changed all fluids, did flushes where I could, new synthetics, changed rotor/dist/plugs/wires/tires/shocks... etc..

Other than the tranny oddity and a slight uneven idle, runs pretty good. Next on the list is the injectors since I see the poppets were in this series.

Thanks again for any thoughts! Loving this site!
