Default interchangeability

Ok, I have tried searching around and found a few threads that I believe have given me the answer I need but just to be sure.... Is it possible to change motors out of an older blazer (the one with the bigger metal top manifold that says vortec, honestly not sure of the year but I know its not the same as whats in my 1998) by changing a few components out or will things not line up?

Nothing? I thought it was something about the heads being different and not being the same

just to get this straight.......you want to take an older CPI W-code engine ('92 through '95) and fit it into your '98?

there's more than just the heads & intake that are different between those different generations of engine.

to put it bluntly......no, it won't work.

That was what I thought, but the people I was working with seemed to disagree so I was just trying to figure out what all is different. Either way now I have already sent the new heads to get done so hopefully I will be rebuilding next week. on a side note, when I do start building again, is it possible to change the timing chain with the block in the truck? I know that I have to loosen the oild pan to get the cover off, just didnt know how easy that was. Thanks for the response old skool

yeah, you can do it in the truck.

hardest part (IMO) is the loosening of the oil pan.
