We had her up on jack stands and she'd go in and out of 4wd no problem; like it wasn't broken. Then when we took her out on the road, went into 4wd, came out of 4wd, and then the 4wd service light came on and the truck wouldn't shift into 4wd. I have no idea what's going on here. Still sticking with the vac line icing over theory though. Any ideas would be great. Or if you agree it would be nice to know that I'm not just making stuff up and it is a logical thought.

I would definitely start by replacing the vac lines, sounds like that will fix your problems.

The one that goes from the actuator to the T case switch is chronic for rotting.

I haven't had the chance to go at it yet. It's been a. High of 30 all week but supposedly temperatures are going to rise up in the mid to high 60s this Saturday and Sunday. So that's when I'll try to fix her.
