Default Jimmy Question!

I have a 98 gmc jimmy. I put it in reverse to back up and then put it into drive and i have to wait a second to accelerate. It feels like it takes it a second to lock into gear. Has anyone else had this issue??

I wasn't thinking that my shift module might be off a little bit or something along those lines
