Default Lifter making nosie

I have a 02 blazer and one lifter on the left bank is knotting. I have changed the oil and put cleaner in it. The nosie go away most of the time when stating to drive and sometimes it makes it for a sec and stops, but today it made it all the way to work about 1hr drive, but on the way home 20mins and I was going up a hill and holding it lol. when I was almost home I could hear it a little bit.

*Can I replace the lifter with out doing the intake* (intake will need to be done soon) the sound drive me crazy and just want to hold it wide open

You have to remove the intake to get to the lifters. You may want to check the cam lobe as well.

Measure the lift of the suspected cam lobe along with the lobes near it to make sure that the lobe hasn't been wiped (deformed). I have seen a few where the tapping wasn't caused by stuck lifters, but rather by a loss of a cam lobe.

The cam could be worn out. How many miles are on your blazer? Mine is actually in the shop right now having the lifters replaced
