when my fuel pressure regulator started leaking i had very poor power, i also got 10mpg and black smoked real good at start-up. Usually a clogged cat wont let the engine rev high, i say usually just becasue there are always exceptions.

I had a similar issues on my 98 s-10 pickup the cat clogged up so bad even downshifting and flooring it the truck would barely move. So I unbolted the cat and started it up and ran fine so I knew it was the cat . Without exhaust flow it won't run.

Ok, tomorrow I'll unbolt the cat and empty it, and test.

I've dismantled the exhaust today. This is what there was inside the cata !

Some of these blocks of ceramic were inside the muffler... I think this is the cause of my loss of power.

I'm gonna do some welding... and put the empty cat on the car...

What do you think about an empty catalytic converter with 2 oxygen sensors ?? Does the engine work properly ?

engine will operate fine, you will get a check engine light with your downstream sensors saying catalyst efficincy below threashold, or something like that. You definatly wont pass emissions.

And if I unplug the second sensor and put it on a support outside the cat... ?

I've tried with the sensor on and out the exhaust, it's almost the same. And no CEL. It just miss torque because my cat is empty.

I've tested my emissions on a gas analyser, the lambda is good , 1.02 .
