95 blazer rough idle and loss of power
well since i gotta write this all over again...i have checked almost every part possible but am clueless and afraid to play round with a few of the parts...but i have lost all power in the blazer and itr idles and shakes inside the engine compartment....we had a high iudle problem before this happened but it didnt affect anything but a high idle then on the highway back from a 20 mile trip it started losing power slowly. ive checked the TPS, EGR, O2 sensors, i just replaced the fuel filter bout 6 months prior to this, could it be a clogged filter? from using different types of gas from diff stations...and in july of last year had motor replaced cause of alternator issue seized motor completely and dont wanna wreck the new motor...and the fuel filter looks to be more rusted than it should be after bout 8000 miles. the only thing i havent checked is the fuel pressure cause of lack of money for the tester
well i was at it again today workin on my lack of power, and realized im getting back pressure out of my oil cap is that normal?? now that i think nof it could my hollowed out converter be affecting this.....my oil was normal color but my antifreeze was a bity low i was thinking valve cover or intake back pressure
Hi guys,
ryn, did you hear a loud *bang* before the problem started? I lost power on the freeway and the idle is really rough. Oil looks ok so no blown head gasket, I've just started troubleshooting and not sure what to do next.

i didnt hear a loud bang and my warranty i had on the remanufactured motor i had put in and they sent me to get a professional opinion and he wanted to charge me 300+ to do a tune up on it supposedly my cylinders are misfiring and i changed plugs and then went to pull off distributor to see if that was the cause and it has a whit charcoaly substance on the posts, is my cap bad or something further down the line????
That white corrosion is a normal deal for a distributor cap, and should build up over time. You shouldn't see a significant amount in a short period of time. Have you checked the throttle body? Perhaps the computer?
BTW, my problem was that the catalytic converter blew and blocked the exhaust, hence loud bang and major loss of power. It screwed up the computer somehow, too.

well i went to have my coil tested and they couldnt do it cause there manual didnt match my part i had....i pulled off my cap and rotor they are in great shape no wear or cracks....how would i test it without an ohmeter...would this be my control module or coil causing the misfire i heard when a coil goes it goes...
