What is your truck doing that makes you think it is the MAF?

The maf will throw it's own code. They make stuff to clean them, might try that before you buy one.

If it's idling rough, bad mileage, etc, but no code, is it time for a tune up?

The code for the MAF is P0101 or P0102. MyHaynes repair manuel said the scanner should read 4.0 to 9.0 grams per second at idle at normal operating temperature.
