95...tricky computer system. It'd probably be safest to just stick with another 95 unless you find out if you're truely OBD1 or OBD2. If you've got that nasty oBD1.5, that's when I would think you need to stay with 95.

You should be fine with a pre '95 engine provided you swap the intake and all teh engine sensors over to the donor. '96 and later the intake ot head bolts are different angles. '92 and prior did not have a internal balance shaft. I think your best bet is a '93 to '95. Remember these engines lived in all sorts of GM vehicles. Fullsize trucks, Astro vans, etc. Your not limited to just Bravadas or Blazers.
