I had no luck with the search... My 2001 4x4 blazer needs motor or rebuild...I found a 2000 s10 pu motor still in the truck...is it a direct swap motor only? I didn't know if it mattered that the truck is not 4x4 or what the year difference entailed. plz help. thx Joey

Joey, You are going to have the motor out anyway. Why just swap? If this is something you want to keep for awhile you would best be served by freshning up either one. If the original block is damaged beyond repair then for sure you need the other engine. You will need to salvage some parts from the original. Oil pan, remote filter housing but other than that a rebuild kit may just be all you need. Mostly depends on what parts remain within specs. There are some good videos on youtube that show tear down. If you watch the Box wrench videos you will have a better idea of what is involved in the rebuild. It is best to have the heads reworked by a machinist. Take the block to be hot tanked and the crankshaft checked out at a machine shop. It is a good idea to have the rods checked out too for out of round. The term balanced and blueprinted simply means all the critical measurements were taken to check specs and the rotating parts are balanced so the engine is not fighting itself while in rotation. The balance part is important. You cannot just simply replace one piston from another engine. Every piston& rod assembly must be of equal weight. Don't let all the technical info scare you if you have not rebuilt a motor. The reward comes after the job is complete. The satisfaction of driving is much greater when you are driving in the vehicle with the motor you built yourself.
