Need help with throttle cable, upper intake...
Hey guys, so I am removing my upper intake to replace my fuel spider. I have so far removed the air intake, disconnected the fuel lines from the firewall area, and removed the nuts holding the throttle bracket in place. So, now, the throttle bracket is free but just dangling in place. There is 2 cables ( i guess one is the throttle and one is cruise control? ) So, how do I disconnect the cables so I can remove the upper intake to access the spider. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to upload pics now of my progress thus far....
you pull back on the throttle linkage and they are just held in place with a post at the end, kinda like the brake cable on a bicycle. When you relieve the tension, you will be able to turn and remove.
Hello,
I've been working on the same repair and ran into the same problem. I've got the cruise control cable off, but the throttle cable will not budge. the throttle cable connector seems to go completely around the mounting peg with no way to slide off. I have attached an image. any ideas?
thanks,
-Drew

much thanks!!!
As soon as you said it was a c-clip it was very apparent how to take it apart. and also, just like you said, it found its way into some dark nook or somewhere on the garage floor. we shall see. thanks again. This small part was becoming a huge hurdle to the larger repair. now back to the garage.

another easy method is if you dont want to mess with that clip or paranoid about breaking it just remove the throttle body. its 3 bolts then you can just place the cables with the throttle body on it to the side, last time i tried to get one of those off it just wouldnt budge
I did bust my cruise cable retainer, unfortunately. 13 years old, desert heat (and before that Michigan winters) caused it to be brittle. I found retainers online, but they all claim to fit 2000+ vehicles (mine is 1999). Does anyone know if the replacement listed here will, indeed, fit my blazer? If not, is there another part I haven't found yet? I'd prefer not to replace the whole cable. Thanks.

The cruise control cable does show as being a different part number between the 97-99 & 2000+ years, but Tonkin's website doesn't give any indication as to the differences. Could only be in length or attachment at the cruise control module itself as I do not recall noticing any changes at the throttle body side of the cable. I also do not know if I have ever really paid any attention to that area in the past.
Does that part look like what you have? If so, take a chance then let us know.
