Default No egr valve?

So I have 1995 Chevy s10 blazer that I just bought a week ago and looking and checking out the engine I seen that there is no egr valve. My blazer runs pretty rough at low speeds and when I come to a stop most of the time it dies. Could this be because there is no egr?

maybe if that plate is leaking. the egr is just a emissions item and is technically not needed. it just sends exhaust gas back into the intake to be re-burned. i dont run egr's on any of my 80s trucks

only issue is you probably wont pass emissions if you have to worry about that where youre at

So could it be the mass air flow sensor giving me the problems with rough idle and dying when I come to a stop?
