Default No more hot air / Electronic climate control

Hello,
On my Chevy blazer 4.3l V6 Year 2000, from 3 days the electronic climate control does'nt give me hot air (even without the E/C).
The fan works ok.
One month before when I bought the car, the guy had to "refill the electrical battery" The car stayed several weeks without driving.
From that time the climate control seemed to work propely but may be one sensor or somethong like that had to be "calibrate" after an electrical battery shut down.
Here in France it is -2 degrees C and it is realy a problem.
Manu thanks for your help.
Regards.
Supercity.

my first question for you is; when was the thermostat last changed?

not sure what you meant by that first line i highlighted, but it sounds like he had to recharge the battery?

and i've never heard of anything needing to be "recalibrated" after having the battery unhooked. i have the same "Electronic Climate Control" system in my '98, and i replaced the battery a couple of months ago (battery was out of the truck for 15 to 20 minutes before i installed the new one) and never had any issues with anything after.

check your themostat-and the condition of the coolant too while you're at it. might be a good idea to have the cooling system "flushed" and refilled with all new coolant.

i believe Prestone makes an additive you can pour in before flushing it, to help loosen up any crud the might be stuck in the system somewhere. a blockage in one of the smaller coolant hoses might also be the problem.

good luck, and keep us posted with what you find out.

Hello,
Many thanks for your reply.
This morning I had also this problem ++
The air was very fresh outside -5 celcius degrees
No hot air in the climate control system.
After 10 minutes roads with the heater close and no fan, the engine temperature began to increase from 100 °c to 110 °c not far from the red and the Check gages was hightlighted.
I openned the heater and the fan in the car the engine temperature decreased to a normal figure. But I did'nt have a lot of hot air after in the car.
I have enough cooling water but it is very dirty with some grey particules in it.
Do you have a more precise idea ?
Could you please tell me where is the thermostat ? With drawings or pics.
I don' thave yet the maintenance DVD with details pics.
I would like to buy the best maintenance detailled DVD. The wich one could you recommend to me ?
Many thanks for you help.
Regards.

Hello,
Everything have been fixed now.
My mechanics has tested the thermostat wich was ok.
He has totaly cleaned all the cooling circuit with special sort of "acid" and have changed the cooling liquid wich seemed not to have been changed from the beginning (there was some piece of limestone in it) the circuit was partially blocked.
Now I have hot air in the car and the engine always around 80 celcius degrees.
Many thanks for all your advices.
Best regards.

glad to see you got her fixed.

as for a service manual, try Chilton's or even Bently Publisher's (i bought one for my diesel Jetta, very informative & clear).
