Default Not Shifting

Hello, I have a 2000 S10 Blazer that doesn't appear to be shifting into its higher gears. I am thinking a vacuum line but I am not really familiar with this vehicle. We've not had hardly any problems with it. Any ideas would be great.

First off, this trans is controlled electronically..... second, maybe a dumb question but have u checked the trans fluid once the trans has been warmed up???? gotta ask cause u never know......btw exactly what is the trk doing? Is it just not shifting into o/d??? Is the check engine light on? If so have u had the codes read? And if so what are they??? Surely others will be along to help, just give it some time....

As stated above, more information is needed to properly help you. And you definitely need to check the basics first. There is a tech article on common problems with the 4L60E transmission in the Tech Article (DIY) section. A link to the index of said section can be found in my signature below.

Thanks. Tranny fluid is good, checked with warm engine and in neutral. It appears that it is not shifting into higher gear like it's stuck in second gear or something. No check engine lights. Haven't taken it into shop so don't know about codes. Trying to avoid shop at the moment due to lack of funds.

Electronically controlled? So are we talking a sensor or a computer module? Will check the tech article. Thanks.

Wow, power train codes are insane....

So as you accelerate, you can feel a shift from 1st to 2nd, but then nothing else? Do the engine RPMs just keep climbing as ground speed increases or at some point does it rev up without an increase in ground speed like it has gone into neutral?

Transmission codes can be read by pretty much any generic scan tool. You should be able to go to your nearest Autozone, Advance Auto, etc and have the codes read.

Sounds like it goes into second but that's about it. Rpms increase but 45 to 50 is about the max the wife took it. Sounds like around 2000rpm, at highway speed it's normally around 1500rpms.

Could possibly be the shift solenoid. You must be sure that it will only shift into second then nothing. If it is shifting into third but not forth then bigger issues are the most probable cause.
