Is a 95 blazer obd1 or obd2?

im going to buy a scanner so when the check engine light goes on i can check the codes myself but im not sure if it will work because all of the scanners on ebay say obd2 is 96+

Neither. It is a combination of both. You will need a scanner that specifically states that it will work with '95 GM vehicles with an OBD2 plug under the dash.

THIS LINK from Actron.com should shed some light on the subject for you.

If you can use the CP9001, it is only $30 from Advanced Auto, but it is a basic code reader, nothing more, nothing less. However, the CP9001 is only an OBD1 reader.

If you have the OBD2 connector, you really don't have many cheap options for being able to read the codes.

I have used several OBDII readers and all have been able to read my 95.
