Default Oil Additive

I have seen this oil additive everywhere. Mostly in magazines, and then one day I saw it in Wal-Mart.

What it is, is some kind of additive that helps increase cylinder compression. I am really considering picking up a bottle. I have 220,000 miles on my 2.8L, and am trying to keep this thing running as long as it can, while trying to give me some more power. I would think that with 220,000 that my compression isn't all that great (haven't tested) and that something like this would really help give me a little stronger power, and increase my fuel economy. Also, at my 3,000 mile oil changes, I am usually short about a 1qt or 1.5qt short of what I should have.

It is this stuff. This stuff in text seems like an awesome product, but I am still pretty iffy about it, and would just like some opinions. Debating if I should put a bottle of this in for my next oil change in 500 miles or before the end of the month. Have to get new tags by the end of May and going to oil change a long with a few other things before I go to emissions.

Default RE: Oil Additive

It's been around a loooong time. I've used it in a couple of cars with no damage, but other than a short term slight perceived difference in performance, I saw nothing to recommend it.

Default RE: Oil Additive

I was using Slick 50 for a couple of years and noticed no differnece with or without it. Lucas Oil gave me a quiter ride than Slick 50, however it was making my oil too thick in the Canadian winters. For the past 3 years I have been using Royal Purple oil with what they call Synerlec. This gave me a noticable differnce in power and sound. Even my wife noticed the differnce and she is now using it in her 2008 FJ Cruiser.
