Hey all got a 95 Jimmy 4x4 with 128k on it with oil in the coolant. No coolant in oil or trans. What are the odds its just the cooler line in the radiator tank? No external leaking/weeping that i can see anywhere. Plugs all looked good.

 

That would be my first suspicion.

 

if oil got into the coolant, there's no reason that coolant won't find it's way into the oil.

i'd get that fixed ASAP, if you already haven't.


lord knows a new/repaired rad is waaaaaaay cheaper than an engine rebuild!

 

I would say that the reason theres oil in the coolant and not the other way around is because you have a blown oil cooler. The pressure in the oiling system is much higher than in the cooling system, hence the coolant wont be able to force its way into the oil.

 

you don't think the hot coolant won't force it's way into the oiling system when the truck is shut off? hence having no oil pressure to keep the coolant @ bay.

IDKAU, but i'd be spending a little $ now-for a little down time-compared to alot of $ for a major pit stop.

 

Hey guys thanks for the replies, plumbed in an external cooler and plugged the lines in the rad. All seems well now, I'll keep an eye on it and hope for the best.
