Default Oil Pressure Question

When the oil is cold should the pressure be higher or lower than when it's hot? Also, what is the standard for our trucks? 40?

Usually slightly higher when cold. Most will show 40-60psi when cruising.

higher. Oil pump bypass is about 57 lbs. Gauge will read a little higher when cold.

As oil warms, pressure at given rpm will drop. Meaning higher rpm until oil pump bypass.

My s10 shows at cold start on a cold morning around 70 psi. and around 45-50 at warm idle for at least 30 min worth of driving. then it'll gradually drop down to 30ish idle and 45 at 2000 rpm..

Healthy

The reason I ask is my Jimmy has been around 50 lately, but with the warmer weather it's been closer to 40. Just makin sure it's not gunna blow up. I'm about to check and make sure the oil level is still normal though. I'm sure that'd make it drop too.

Along with checking oil level it doesnt hurt to change out the oil pressure switch. Sometime those things go bad, and give false readings.
