Default Oil Pressure Sensor Question 98 Jimmy 4.3

Question for you folks, We just swapped in a new engine on a 98 Jimmy 4.3L. The old oil pressure sensor was much shorter than the new one we ordered and I am wondering why that is? The sensor appears to be shorter and a slightly different style, unfortunately the old sensor was already tossed during a clean up so now we are stuck scratching our heads.

Pictured is the new sensor but it is twice as long as the original shorter sensor. Am I losing my mind here? The new (Longer) sensor may be interfering with other components and I am wondering what the deal is.

Can someone enlighten me?
The longer sensor hits the fuel lines and the old one did not.

Appreciate any help or feedback that you can provide.
