P0101 problems after 4th new maf
Hi to all,
i’ve been working with George for about a month with a p0102 problem, I dropped maf #1, original to the truck, bought an amozon mid price replacement, which outputted a 10 times correct frequency under 75% throttle, then bought a new maf from OReileys, which got me through a smog check with one unset cat I/M. But I goofed had forgot to reconnect the hose from bank 2 to throttle body input— may have been the reason I/M didn’t reset. I took it back to OReilleys and got a 2nd exact same replacement. Installing it is when I found out that I forgot the bank 2 hose. It’s black behind everything, and hard to see for old people like me.
Since then,WITH EVERYYTHING CONNECTED CORRECTLY—I have been getting a p0101 dtc set off only once — never twice causing a ses light—then reset after 2 key cycles. I’m too embarrassed to go back to OReilleys and ask for a third one or a higher priced one, thinking the $87 model just isn’t quite right for my truck.
I’ve been driving with my Inova 3150, obdii reader connected every trip into town, but haven’t seen even a remote clue as to which end of the spectrum is causing the problem. I think it happens climbing hillls, and or shifting gears ( 5 sped manual) which kind of implies high maf readings out of range. But during gear changes, the MAP actually drop as low as 3 inches of mercury, and maf could be doing something similar ,but not caught by the obdii reader. It isn’t very fast at sampling data in my humble opinion.
I’ve thought it might be a cat nearing a end of life issue, but looking at bank1 o2s one versus bank 1 o2s # 2, I don’t see anything near similarity in readings. vehicle has 120 K miles, never had any misfire issues, plugs changed at 85K miles, distributor rotor changed at about 105k miles.
Spent lots of time and parts changes on the p0102 problems.
One other symptom which is a 50-50 thing, is the truck seems to have a slight dead zone in the throttle control as you press down on the accelerator. Don’t see it on the TPS readings on obdii. TPS was replaced in last 6 months, along with IAC valve motor.
anybody got any suggestion?
