Sounds like something going on with the fan clutch to me

Thank you! That's all I can figure as well. Now to decide if I should replace the clutch fan or go electric...

Can a fan clutch fail where it is always engaged as well as not spinning at all?

Nothing wrong with going electric, if you want a project to do. But the stock fan and clutch will move plenty of air to keep the truck cool.

As far as failing and running all the time, I'm not sure

Yes they fail and be engaged all the time. It will sound like a jet taking off when you accelerate.

I would just change out clutch and be done with it.

Thanks for the help fellas. I did get a new fan clutch in hopes that it fixes the issue. Hopefully install it this weekend. It's just the downhill that makes it roar that has me stumped that stabbing the throttle makes it stop

Well, I swapped out the fan clutch this afternoon, I'll drive it tomorrow and see if it is fixed or not. At first I thought the clutch I took out was ok, nice and tight. After messing with it for a min, it spun in my hand way too easy, so that is promising I think
