Pop, grind, no go

New member Pop, grind, no go
I have a 2000 blazer LS .I was driving home a few days ago and out of nowhere I heard a pop(unclear on the pop though cause the grinding scared me tbh)then a hard grinding sound so I brakes and pulled to the side. The speedometer needle barried to the top. (100mph). I turned the truck of got out and started to investigate initially everything seemed in order no smoke no smell popped the hood checked fluids tranny fluid was brown but no leaking from anywhere til I looked in the back end and the differential seemed to be leaking. I got back in started right up but it wouldn't engage any gear I tried R gassed it nothing but rpm raised then ttied each gear after D 2 1 all the same result. No movement. At a loss for words I have a few ideas of what it might be and I'm hoping its not what I think it is. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Rear end only pic for now

No
No I don't think it was I just kno it made a horrible gear grinding sound and then would not shift in to gear shifter moved as it normally would but when I gave it gas the rpm went up and the speedometer stayed buried at 100 on every single gear. Need to know if there is a solution to be able to limp it home 5 miles
