Default Possbily need an ECM now?

Well any of you that know me know I just rebuilt the engine in my Jimmy. Well it was running great for like a week and a half and now all of a sudden its acting up. Idles fine and smooth, so I know the engine build is fine. You try to open up the throttle any it trys to cut out. Also I lost all my guages. None of them work at all. I found an old aftermarket alarm system on it and it was spliced in to my ignition harness which I figured. So I replaced that and nothing still. Any ideas? Ive pretty much narrowed it down to a wiring problem somewhere or the ECM is somehow in limp mode or fried all together. I dunno any ideas welcome.

Well I found the problem of engine running bad. Its fixed but still my gauge cluster is not working. Going to tear it all apart (obviously already checked my fuses) and see if Im getting power back there tonight. Any other ideas throw em out there.

Would be interested to know what fixed the "running bad" problem.....i'm guessing on this, but if you have a digital cluster, I hear there is a small power board, inside the cluster, that usually goes bad....you might give that a try.....

No it was a wire that grounded out the whole truck. Ive never seen anything like that before but fixed the wire and it started running perfectly fine and hadnt had any issues since. No my gauges are not digital but thats fixed as well.

Sounds like you got off the jump-to-conclusions mat and actually did some investigating. Glad you got it taken care of.

What wire ended up causing the problem? I'm currently experiencing ecm problems myself and have no idea what is causing the problem.

It was something that I wired incorrectly cause I got in a hurry, so basiclly I had a wire running thru my door jam that got pinched and was grounding out the body.. Took the wire out ran it correctly through the firewall and a grommet and everything is fine. just goes to show dont rush wiring and do it incorrectly (which I already knew)
