Default new member question

Ive had my blazer for a few years now, the man before me put a lot of miles on it, and Ive added a few more than id like..

in Jan i had a head gasket replaced.
from what little i know about vehicles, they smoothed something over and had to be shipped off to do this.. anywho..the truck ran fine till the end of the afternoon. it would randomly die in the middle of the road, or at a light, or a turn. it would start right back up then die about 3 times.
we took it back to the mechanic and after an hour or so they informed me the air intake valve, or oxygen intake sensor were "fighting with each other", and there's not enough gas to air ratio to make the engine stop doing this.
they said it would be around $450.00 to fix. the truck never did this before the head gasket repair.

since then Ive almost been rear ended because of this dieing in the road, and been honked at while waiting for a light and it will die. after turning it over, or letting it sit a few minutes it usually starts right back up and will be ok till i get home.

starting up the next day it's not getting power, or fuel of some sort, and it barely shudders with strong gas smell..

i bought a new gas filter last night to replace today and seeing if this helps the truck any. she's sick and i can't afford a doctor.

any suggestions?

94 chevy blazer

also anyone had any dealings with rock auto? are they good to work with for parts and the like?

thanks to any who reply.

They are good but you have to watch for the shipping, if you order multiple items and they ship from different locations the shipping gets expensive
