If the battery post gets hot, I would suspect corrosion at the post causing resistance.
How long are you cranking on it when you "have some trouble starting it"?
How old is the battery?

it might be loose too and arcing which could be really bad and end up killing a cell in your battery.

im only cranking on it for about 6 to 10 secs at a time but a couple of times each and its a battery less than 1 1/2 months old and post are tight,so i called my cousin in ky which ends up he works on police cars and he said my sileniod is drawing current in my starter even with the ign switch off cause sometimes cranking it would turn over a half turn and stop then i would turn the key off and retry it and starts cranking again,if all that helps, sometimes my cousin is full of crap too, lol,,any thing liks this sounds right?????

If the solenoid were drawing current even when the key was off, it would drain the battery dead. Should be fairly easy to determine if that was the case.

well if i leave the battery hooked up for more than 12 hours then it is dead

Well then... More information. If you disconnect the starter, does the battery die?
