Default Problem?

ok i have a problem i just bought this 96' blazer 4x4 4 door and when i hait the gas hard the rpms just rev up and i have to let ogf the gas a little for it to speed up,i was wondering if any of u knew what the problem was.

Automatic transmission?
Check the transmission oil level and condition, see if it smells burnt. Sounds like a slipping tranny.

it does seem kinda burnt like as in the trans. fluid would it help to get it changed?
