Are you sure that all of the throttle blades are closing? No vacuum leaks?

BTW, please try to keep requests for help on the forum. I try to get to every thread when I can and do not need prompting to look at your thread.

quadrajets can be the most annoying carbs to adjust but when you have it perfect the will perform just as well as a double-pumper holley.... just as swartlkk mentioned before check and make sure everything is opening/closing and working properly and ther are no vacuumm leaks... once any problems are fixed adjust your idle screws all the way in until it dies and stop IMMEDIATELY.... then turn turn them out just enough to get it to barely run... then count the turns as you turn them all the way out until it dies and stop IMMEDIATELY... now take the number of turns and divide in 1/2 and turn the idle screws in with the number you have and that should get you pretty close to a smooth idle.... every quadrajet is different for every engine so you will just have to play with it (could take all day) until you have it perfect..
